New Video: Panda Bear
I’ll admit that I’m a little bit of a sucker for skulls, skeletons, graveyards and whatever else might go into that cornucopia of the macabre, but this video for ‘Surfer’s Hymn’ is really, really rad. Though I guess it would fall into the category of a fan video, m ss ng p eces spared no creative expense in making one of the best music videos –official or otherwise– I have seen in some time.
In an apparent bond with Zoo York, the video is a dedication ‘to all surfers taken by the sea’ and depicts ghoulish skeletons rising from their graves to surf the cemetery’s dark and winding paths. Melancholy, humourous and hopeful all at once, this piece will wedge itself into your brain and hit you right where you live emotionally. The upshot is that the video leaves room for you to decide how it sticks with you and let you decide whether the clip is happy or sorrowful.
